Home of the mountain bike and hiker in the summer, the area is full of trails. The newly revamped lift-accessed Bike Park is open for the season and well worth the visit- whether you're there to launch down yourself or bare witness to some serious downhilling from the hiking trails! Walk slowly past pristine lakes and mountain meadows, taking time to enjoy the mountain flowers and ocean vistas that surround you. Mount Washington provides an enjoyable summer base from which to access the entire area of rivers, lakes and ocean. Discover the surrounding sights of Strathcona Park on horseback or rock climb to the top for some spectacular views. Opportunities for fishing, kayaking and golf are nearby in the town of Courtenay. Music events and bike competitions are a highlight during the summer and the mountain scenery provides the perfect backdrop. Enjoy all the activities easily from the doorstep of this alpine retreat.
This fabulous family mountain features alpine skiing and snowboarding on 1200 acres of terrain serviced by 8 lifts including two high speeds. Have fun on two terrain parks and a half pipe. Mount Washington also features a full service cross country skiing facility with a 55 km trail system. You can ski in and out on the vehicle-free village trails, or enjoy the toboggan hills and lift-accessed tube park (open until 9pm.) Night skiing is open until 9 pm weekly Thursday-Saturday and throughout the holidays.
This two bedroom villa features a king master bedroom with ensuite and a queen second bedroom, plus a hide-a-bed in the living room. There is a cozy fireplace, full kitchen and dining room. Both of the two balconies are sunny spots in the afternoon and feature nice views. This unit is very easy to get to, is not at the top of a huge hill or stairway, and is on the Snow Cat route (luggage transportation from the village parking lot to your door, runs until 11pm.)
Mount Washington is well known for its huge snowfalls and fun slopes. Sunny skies and gorgeous views of the islands, straits and surrounding mountains make your days here memorable. Whether you like to picnic on the slopes in the afternoon sunshine or enjoy the delicious food provided by either of the lodges restaurants, you can dine well. Apres Ski at Fat Teddy's Bar is always welcome at the end of a long day on the slopes!
Mount Washington is easily accessed from the Island Highway. Approximately 3 hours from Victoria, with daily bus service available. Flights arrive in Victoria, Nanaimo (1 1/2hours) or Comox (1/2 hour). The mountain features an excellent toddler and young skier program, day care and full rentals.
